CREW Movie Trailer, Review, Cast and Storyline

Tabu, Kareena, and Kriti are flight attendants at Kohinoor Airlines, which is burdened with significant debts under the ownership of Vijay Walia (played by Saswata Chatterjee). Jasmine, Geeta, and Divya, also employees of Kohinoor Airlines, are disheartened by their low wages and the stress of their work. Sadly, Jasmine passes away at a young age and resides with her maternal grandfather (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), who instilled in her the belief that “money is everything.” Geeta lives comfortably with her husband Arun (Kapil Sharma), while Divya, despite holding a pilot license, is unable to secure a pilot’s job due to the recession. She deceives her family by claiming to be a pilot. Despite their hard work, all three women face financial difficulties due to unpaid salaries, along with 4000 other employees.

One fateful day, while en route to Al Burj, their colleague Rajvanshi collapses mid-flight, revealing his involvement in smuggling gold biscuits as the trio discovers bars of gold attached to his vest. Tempted to seize the gold, they ultimately resist. Upon landing at Mumbai airport, they encounter Jaiveer (Diljit Dosanjh), a customs officer and Divya’s old friend. Meanwhile, news channels report Kohinoor Airways’ financial crisis, countered by Vijay Walia’s denial, promising to settle all dues. However, the truth emerges when Kohinoor Airlines’ HR, Mittal Mittal (Rajesh Sharma), a friend of Geeta, discloses the airline’s bankruptcy. Shocked by this revelation and realizing they will never receive their salaries; the trio contemplates following their colleague’s path by smuggling gold biscuits. What unfolds next forms the crux of the film’s narrative.

Direction

For those unfamiliar, ‘Crew’ marks Rajesh A Krishnan’s second directorial venture following ‘Lootcase’ (2020). Krishnan adeptly portrays his female leads in this buddy comedy. These characters are portrayed as sensitive individuals who support each other unconditionally. While the film is primarily focused on its female protagonists, Krishnan ensures that male characters are given their own space. Kapil Sharma portrays a supportive husband, while Diljit Dosanjh shines as a charming companion to Kriti Sanon. What sets ‘Crew’ apart is its portrayal of four women who are unapologetically themselves, delving beyond typical themes like sex, relationships, and feminism often seen in other women-centric films. The background score by John Stewart Eduri is commendable, particularly the various renditions of the instrumental theme of ‘Choli,’ which enhance the screenplay. Costume designers Manisha Melwani, Chandni Whabi, Meagan Concessio, and Abhilasha Devnani Baweja deserve praise for their work in making the female leads look glamorous and stunning. The editing is precise and well-executed. The songs, essential to any Bollywood film, are lively, with tracks like ‘Ghagra’ and ‘Choli’ already becoming favorites among music enthusiasts. The revamped version of ‘Sona Kitna Sona Hai’ is catchy, and the accompanying visuals add to the appeal, making these songs a treat to watch on the big screen.
