Oppenheimer wins the Oscar for Best Picture

As Hollywood celebrated a successful year in cinema, “Oppenheimer,” the popular biopic about the race to create the first atomic weapon, won seven Academy Awards on Sunday, including the best picture award.

For his portrayal of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who led the Americans to develop a bomb that ended World War Two in the 1940s, Cillian Murphy received best actor. Director Christopher Nolan of “Oppenheimer” won the Oscar for directing. We made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb, and for better or worse we are living in Oppenheimer’s world, So I would really like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere Murphy said while on stage holding his award.

Emma Stone won the best actress award for her role in the bizarre and dark comedy “Poor Things.” Stone won the best actress Oscar for the 2016 musical “La La Land.” This was her second Academy Award.

Robert Downey Jr. of “Oppenheimer” won his first Academy Awards in the supporting actor category. “I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy, in that order, his wife Susan, who he said found him as a “snarly rescue pet” and “loved him back to life.”

Playing a widowed mother and cafeteria worker in the comedy set at a New England boarding school, Randolph won the best supporting actress award. “For so long, I always wanted to be different, and now I realize I just need to be myself, I thank you for seeing me” she said.
